Banks become pro-Kannada, organize events for Rajyotsava. Hubli News – Times of India

Hubballi: A common complaint about banks is that they hesitate to use the regional language in their day-to-day operations and that bank employees are anti-Kannada. However, contrary to this belief, on the other hand, many banks in Hubli are planning various Kannada events in the month of November due to Karnataka Rajyotsava. As a mark of respect to the Kannada language and culture, some banks are also honoring Kannada writers and recipients.
S Rajendran, Divisional General Manager, SBI, Hubli said that Karnataka Rajyotsava is being celebrated in all SBI branches in the region. “We are organizing creative activities like Kannada Geet Antyakshari, Poetry Competition, Essay Competition and Pick and Speech. We will organize competitions over the weekend and award prizes to all the winners at the end of November. We are also thinking of giving regular Kannada classes to non-Kannada officers and employees. We have strictly followed the trilingual policy and in our letter heads, letters, circulars, notice boards and branch displays have given equal importance to Kannada as to English and Hindi,” he explained.
Rati Kant Dora, Assistant General Manager, Canara Bank, Hubli Region, said that 60-70% Kannada speaking officers and other employees are employed in the bank. “As per the direction of Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil, we have ensured Kannada speaking officers in banking related to agriculture. Karnataka Rajyotsava is on our calendar, and we are preparing events to mark the event,” he said.
According to Santosh Prabhu, Regional Manager, Union Bank of India, Kannada is planning Sangh Rajyotsava events in the bank. There will be Kannada speaking and singing competitions for non-Kannadiga employees and essay writing competitions for Kannada speaking employees.
