State Health Minister Veena George said Kerala will have new mandatory quarantine conditions for international travelers from Monday based on the guidelines of the Union Health Ministry.

According to the new guidelines, travelers from the UK will have to undergo a ten-day quarantine at home or at the destination address. Travelers from South Africa, Brazil and Europe must undergo a mandatory seven-day quarantine upon arrival.

In a statement, Veena George said that all international passengers irrespective of their vaccination status will have to undergo RT-PCR test upon arrival at airports in the state.

Travelers from other countries will have to undergo self-monitoring for 14 days if they test negative in the RT-PCR test. Samples from travelers from countries such as Botswana, UK, New Zealand, South Africa, Brazil, European countries, Middle East, Bangladesh, China, Mauritius and Zimbabwe will be sent for virus mutation testing.

After imposing such quarantine measures for Indian visitors, the Center had ordered a 10-day mandatory quarantine for travelers arriving from the UK.

George also said that an international passenger in the state requires three RT-PCR tests – one 72 hours before the journey, the second on arrival at the airport in the state and the third eight days after arrival in the state.
