Streaming platform Netflix on Wednesday announced that South stars Venkatesh Daggubati and Rana Daggubati have signed on to star in “Rana Naidu”, the Indian adaptation of the acclaimed American TV series “Ray Donovan”. The series will follow the life of Rana Naidu, who is well known to all Bollywood when they have a problem.
‘Inside Edge’ fame Karan Anshuman is the show runner and director of the show and Suparan Verma (‘The Family Man’ season two) will co-direct it. The series, which will be in Hindi, will see the real-life uncle and nephew duo – Venkatesh and Rana – sharing the screen for the first time.

Rana, who has worked in Hindi films like “Dum Maro Dum” and “Baby”, said he is thrilled to work with his uncle Venkatesh. “It’s a very first special for me. Working with my uncle Venkatesh and storytelling in a long form for the first time with Netflix is something completely different from what we both have ever done in our careers,” the 36-year-old actor said in a statement. I am extremely happy to be with a crew and a platform that knows it best.
This will be Venkatesh’s first Hindi project after the 1995 film “Takdeerwala”. The Telugu star made her Bollywood debut in 1993’s “Anari” opposite Karisma Kapoor. Venkatesh said that the series is the perfect project for him to collaborate with his nephew.
“I can’t wait to work with Rana, we are going to have a blast on the sets and this show is the perfect project for us to work on. I myself am a huge Ray Donovan fan and the entire team is doing everything possible to ensure that we do justice to it.” Monica Shergill, VP Contents, Netflix India, said, “Excited to bring on the powerhouse cast. In 2019 it was announced that Locomotive Global Inc. had acquired the first scripted remake rights of “Ray Donovan”. Featuring Liev Schreiber in the titular role, “Ray Donovan” debuted on Showtime in 2013 and ran for seven seasons. Schreiber is set to reprise his role of a professional fixer in the film adaptation of the hit series.
