Mohamed Salah’s 100th Premier League goal helped Liverpool cruise to a 3-0 win over 10-man Leeds United on Sunday in a match that injured teenager Harvey Elliott.
After a brisk start to the game, Salah became the 30th player to feature in the Premier League’s 100-goal club in the 20th minute, tapping home from close range from a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross.
The visiting team missed several chances to score two goals in the first half, before Fabinho scored a count early in the second period and placed Juergen Klopp’s side on three points on course in West Yorkshire.
There was a worrying scene later in the half as Elliott required lengthy treatment on the pitch after a tackle from Leeds’ Pascal Struijk, with the host’s substitute being shown a straight red card for a challenge by the referee.
Elliott was carried on a stretcher with what appeared to be a serious leg injury, to applause from Leeds fans as he was driven down the touchline.
Liverpool regained their competition through Sadio Mane to add a stoppage-time to third place and seal a win that propelled them into third place above Manchester City in the standings, while Leeds four this season. Sitting 17th without a win in league matches.
