Himachal Pradesh announces 6% additional DA for state government employees, pensioners on Independence Day

Himachal Pradesh government on Sunday announced 6 per cent additional Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees and pensioners. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that the increase in DA would be applicable from July 1.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, presiding over the state level function at the historic Seri Manch in Mandi, made this announcement to give financial benefits of Rs 450 crore to the employees and pensioners.

CM Thakur also announced an increase in the subsidy on edible oils from the existing Rs 10 per liter to Rs 30 per liter for Below Poverty Line and Above Poverty Line families and Rs 5 to Rs 10 per liter for APL cardholders. This will benefit 18.71 lakh cardholders of the state in the next four months.

The Chief Minister also announced Rs 15 crore to the Municipal Corporation Mandi to run its development works smoothly.

Jai Ram Thakur said that for almost two years the whole world is fighting the COVID pandemic and timely effective steps taken by the Prime Minister have proved to be life saving for the citizens of the country.

He paid tributes and tributes to the freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the pride and glory of the nation.

He also paid tribute to the martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice for the sovereignty of the nation.

The Chief Minister unfurled the national flag and took salute from the contingents of the State Police, Home Guards, SSB and ITBP. Pranav Chauhan commanded the parade.

Thakur presented the Civil Service Award to National Health Mission, Department of Information Technology, Himachal Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission and BDO Gohar Nishant Sharma.

Prerna Satrot Award to Dr. RK Prithi and Satpal Himachal Gaurav Award to Subedar Sanjay Kumar, Subedar Major Balwant Singh, Kartar Singh and Rahul Raina.

He honored various players of the state on the occasion. He also honored the sportspersons Ashish Kumar, Priynka Negi, Ritu Negi, Kavita Thakur, Ajay Thakur, Khila Devi, Diksha Thakur, Priynka Thakur, Jyotika Datta, Vikas Thakur and coach Naresh Kumar. They were also given cash prizes by the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister flagged off a new fleet of 34 Light Motor Vehicles for the Police Department. The main attraction of the program were the tableaux of various departments.

A colorful cultural program was also organized on the occasion. Earlier, the Chief Minister visited the Martyrs Memorial and paid floral tributes to the freedom fighters and martyrs who laid down their lives for the motherland. He also paid floral tribute to the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi by garlanding him.

Jal Shakti Minister Mohinder Singh Thakur, some MLAs, Deputy Commissioner Mandi Arindam Choudhary, Director Information and Public Relations Harbans Singh Brascon and other senior officers were present on the occasion.

The 75th Independence Day was celebrated as Amrit Mahotsav with celebrations organized at the state, district and subdivision levels. Hoisting of Tricolor, marchpast by contingents of State Police, Home Guards, SSB, ITBP were the highlights of the festival.
