75 Railway Institutes to provide skill training to youth Kanpur News – Times of India

Jhansi : In a unique initiative, Indian Railways has announced to utilize 75 of its training centers across Skill training will be provided to youth in the age group of 18-35 years in the country including two in Jhansi. Inaugurating the scheme at Rail Bhawan on Friday, Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnav launched Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana, a program under the aegis of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).
He announced that around 50,000 people would be benefited from this scheme in the next three years. The training centers include Basic Training Center (BTC) and Supervisor Training Center (STC) in Jhansi.
The training, which is free of charge for participants selected from online applications, will have access to four areas including Electrician, Welder, Machinist and Fitter and will have a schedule of 100 hours each. The program curriculum is developed by Banaras Locomotive Works.
On completion of the program trainees will be awarded a certificate in the trade allotted by the National Institute of Rail and Transport.
Dedicating the scheme as a birthday gift to the Prime Minister, which coincides with the auspicious Vishwakarma Jayanti, the Railway Minister said, “The vision of skill development is an integral part of the vision of the Prime Minister and 50 thousand youth will be there. Trained under Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana The objective of this initiative is to impart training skills to the youth in various professions to bring about qualitative improvement with greater emphasis in remote areas.
