74-Year-Old COVID Patient Dies Amid Pushing His Family To Give Him Ivermectin For Memorial Hermann – World Latest News Headlines

SUGAR LAND, Texas (KTRK) – A 74-year-old man whose family sought a court order against Memorial Hermann for his COVID-19 treatment has died.

The Pete Lopez Memorial Herman Sugar Land in Richmond had been battling COVID-19 for almost a month. According to his family, he was put on ventilator on 19 August.

His family, which is appealing to the administration from Memorial Hermann, won a court order for the hospital to treat him with the controversial drug.

Despite the family’s court order victory, he claimed the hospital refused to provide the medicine.

His family called him the head of the family. The Vietnam War veteran had suffered a heart attack a few years ago, but his family said he was otherwise healthy. In fact, they couldn’t slow him down.

Lopez’s granddaughter Gabrielle Snyder said she had exhausted all options. That’s why he insisted on the use of ivermectin in the hospital.

The FDA has approved its use in people to treat specific parasitic diseases, but not COVID-19.

According to Snyder, Lopez was previously prescribed ivermectin by the VA Medical Center, but was hospitalized before she was able to take it.

“He had the prescription at the hospital and the doctors knew it,” Snyder told Eyewitness News on Sunday. “We’ve been asking them to administer it from day one.”

According to the documents, on September 3, a judge signed the court’s order in favor of the family.

Despite the verdict, Lopez still hasn’t received the drug, according to her family.

Over the weekend, Memorial Hermann issued the following statement regarding the case:

Memorial Herman is unable to comment on pending litigation or specific cases due to patient privacy laws. It is important to note that physicians diagnose and treat patients in line with best medical practices. It is the role of medical providers to determine a safe and effective course of treatment for patients and then to help patients and their loved ones, if applicable, make an informed decision about the treatment options available to them. The FDA has not authorized or approved ivermectin for the treatment or prevention of COVID-19. Currently available data do not demonstrate that ivermectin is safe or effective against COVID-19 infection. In addition to ongoing clinical trials, the FDA, CDC and WHO discourage the use of ivermectin as a treatment for COVID-19.

Lopez’s family did not want to be told whether or not Lopez had been vaccinated.

According to the family’s attorney, Ralph Lorigo, who won similar cases in New York and Chicago, Memorial Hermann filed an appeal. However, Lorigo said the hospital was still violating the court order.

It is not immediately known how Lopez’s family intends to approach legal matters following the death of their loved one.
