new Delhi: Nearly seven weeks after legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away in eternity, her brothers and sisters and other relatives feel they have become ‘orphans’.
Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Usha Mangeshkar and others, who appeared in public for the first time since the death of Lata didi, joined in a proud emotional moment at Vile Parle’s Master Deenanath Mangeshkar auditorium – unveiling a large colorful portrait of her Dear sister.
The smiling Lata Mangeshkar portrait was unveiled by well-known actor Vikram Gokhale, a close family friend of nearly seven decades, tearing up the assembled Mangeshkar clan, longing for their beloved and eldest didi, who died on February 6. had left them.
Inaugurating the picture, Gokhale recalled how his father and the master Deenanath Mangeshkar family were related for centuries.
“We used to address him as ‘Dina Ba’… Our families had a very close relationship and he was also my father’s ‘guru’. He presented my father a musical instrument, on which he used to sing ‘Riyaz’ ( practice) for hours,” said Gokhale with moist eyes and suffocation.
Asha Bhosle confessed how the sudden demise of Lata didi was a huge shock and pain for her and the entire family.
“Wherever I went, I always took the blessings of Lata didi. She used to tell me ‘always not to touch my feet, because her and our parents’ blessings’ are always with me, wherever I am And whether I have gone or not. Her or not,” Bhosale said in an emotional tribute.
The only brother, music director Hridaynath Mangeshkar, said that Lata Didi’s passing had proved tragic and devastating for the entire family, adding that “we still can’t believe she is no more with us”.
“I had seen my father’s picture in this auditorium and in four cinema halls in Pune. I never thought that a day would come when I would have to unveil the picture of our sister (Lata didi) apart from my father. It was very painful. causes,” Hridaynath said.
The family will put up large size photographs of Lata didi in four theaters in Pune and will also plan to build memorials for her at various places.
Asha Bhosle thought after Lata didi’s departure, “whose blessings should I seek, whom should I turn to for my problems.”
“When we were very young and our baba (father, Dinanath) died and then our mai (mother Shevanti) also passed away, it was Lata didi who took care of us as parents. After that we all became orphans. We never thought it would be like this and could have lived for many more years,” Bhonsle said.
Family members said Lata didi “will continue to inspire us all” and that generations to come will feel blessed with her photographs hanging on the walls of auditoriums in Mumbai and Pune.
Other attendees included Usha Mangeshkar, who took care of her Lata didi for many years, crying inconsolably and could not be present for the photo session, Bharti Mangeshkar, Roopkumar Rathod and Sonali Rathod, Adinath Mangeshkar, Krishna Mangeshkar, Jenai Bhosle, Anuja Bhosle, Mayuresh Pati and Ashish Shelar.
This is the first time since Lata didi’s death on February 6 that the whole family came together for a public event, followed by her public funeral at Shivaji Park that day and then four days later in Nashik after the funeral rituals. Happened.
