Most of the people were sleeping when the fire started
A fire broke out in a slum located in Delhi’s Gokulpuri area late on Friday night. 7 people died in this accident. The fire was so fierce that more than 60 shanties were burnt to ashes. A team of 3 fire brigade reached the spot. A fire brigade official said that the fire was quite terrible, but after hard work, the fire was brought under control at 4 am.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed grief over the accident. He said that he would personally visit the spot and meet the families of the victims. The incident took place around pillar number 12 of Gokulpuri.
Difficult to recognize burnt body
Delhi Fire Team Director Atul Garg said that 7 burnt bodies were found during the service, which is very difficult to identify. He said that the people who died due to the fire, it seemed that these people were sleeping and they had no way of escape as the fire had spread very fast. We are yet to ascertain the cause of the fire.
The huts were completely burnt to ashes after the fire.
Police will investigate the matter
Several police officers also reached the spot. Additional DCP of North-East Delhi district said that a fire was reported at 1 pm in a slum in Gokulpuri police station area. Police reached the spot with all the rescue equipment. We immediately coordinated with the fire brigade team. Many people were rescued. Many people are seriously injured, they were admitted to the hospital. The DCP said that the cause of the fire is being investigated. Action will be taken against those who are guilty.
