A 7-year-old boy fell into a borewell in Madhya Pradesh’s Vidisha district. He is stuck at 43 feet. Police and NDRF teams are engaged in rescue from 11.30 am on Monday. The borewell is 60 feet deep. A parallel 45 feet pit has to be dug near the bore. Excavation up to 32 feet has been done till 12 midnight with 4 JCB and 3 Poklen machines. After this, two more Poklen machines were called on the spot due to a rock coming there. Oxygen is being delivered to the child through a pipe. Monitoring is also being done through CCTV.

Collector Umashankar Bhargava and Lateri SDM Harshal Chaudhary, Additional SP Sameer Yadav are present on the occasion. With the increase in depth, the speed of digging slows down. Laterite (Kadak Muram) has started coming out below. Now 12 to 13 feet more digging has to be done. After this, the child will be taken out by making a tunnel of 5 feet. According to SDOP Saurabh Tiwari, movement was seen in the child at 11 pm. Lokesh, son of Dinesh Ahirwar, had fallen in the borewell built in the field at 11 am on Monday.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has also tweeted regarding the matter. He has written that the incident of 7-year-old innocent falling into a borewell in Kherkhedi village of Lateri tehsil of Vidisha district is sad. I have instructed the local administration to take necessary steps, and am in constant touch with them. The rescue team is trying to save the child safely. I pray for the well being of the innocent.

According to Collector Bhargava, the incident took place at 11 am on Tuesday. Lokesh was running after the monkeys. Meanwhile, he fell into an open borewell in the field. After the information, the rescue work has started at around 11.30 am. First of all the supply of oxygen was started to the child. The movement of the child is being monitored with the help of CCTV. The bore is without casing and is about 60 feet deep.

Lokesh’s grandmother Usha Bai said that we have come to do wages. Grandson also came along. We were harvesting in the field. Then the monkeys came on the ram. He came running to drive them away. He did not know that there was also a borewell in the field amidst the crops. He fell into it.
