6 Namma Clinics Will Come Up In Dharwad District | Hubballi News – Times of India

HUBBALLI: The district health department has kicked off preparations for the opening of Namma Clinics to deliver essential health services to urban and rural residents.
Six clinics in the city and taluks will start with the aim of helping economically weaker sections.
The state government came up with the Urban Health and Wellness Centres (U-HWCs) called Namma Clinics to reduce the financial burden on people who need health services and to reduce crowding in secondary and tertiary health facilities.
The centres will provide quick and quality health care by systematically preventing infectious diseases.
“Twenty-one primary health centres function in Hubli- Dharwad, each one for every 50,000 in the population. Among these, for those tackling more than 60,000 people in urban areas, there will be Namma Clinics as sub-centres near the PHC,” DHO Dr B C Karigoudar said.
“Similarly, if the population is more than 30,000 in rural areas, another clinic will be started. A total of six clinics will come up including three in Hubballi city, one each in Dharwad city, Navalgund taluk and Annigeri taluk. This clinic will operate from 9 am-4 pm in the same PHC model,” he added.
An inspection is on to set up the clinics.
If there is an old building, the clinic will be started there.
Otherwise, private buildings will be acquired. “The new clinics will reduce the pressure on the existing PHC,” the DHO said.
