5 kg RDX recovered from Dhanoa Kala village in Amritsar; investigation underway

Amritsar Special Task Force on Friday recovered 5 kg of RDX near the International Border in Dhanoa Kala village of Attari.

Police have cordoned off the area and investigation is on.

Amritsar Special Task Force on Friday recovered 5 kg of RDX near the International Border in Dhanoa Kala village of Attari. Bomb squad present on the spot defused the bomb. The incident is being seen as one of the major attempts to terrorize Punjab as the STF has recovered 6 AK 47 rifle rounds, 3 UBGLs, 7 detonators, 2 grenades, 3 fuses, a pouch and a bag.

According to Punjab Police sources, some suspects have been taken into custody and they are being questioned about the recovery of RDX. Several police officers, accompanied by SSP Rakesh Kaul, had reached the spot, which is just a few kilometers away from the India-Pakistan border. Police have cordoned off the area. Investigation is going on.

On 23 December 2021, there was a bomb blast in the second floor bathroom in the Ludhiana Court Complex. The blast was so severe that there was a lot of destruction in the surrounding area. The person responsible for the blast was identified as former head constable Gagandeep Singh, who was dismissed from services due to alleged drug links. Gagandeep was tracked with his SIM card.

On December 1 last year, the police had seized 1 kg of RDX from a place under Dinanagar police station area located in Gurdaspur district. Then Gurdaspur police arrested a person named Sukhwinder Singh in this case. A pistol was also recovered from him.

Two days after this incident, the police recovered four grenades and a tiffin bomb from Salimpur Afghana village in Gurdaspur district of Punjab.
