Thiruvananthapuram: Fresh Covid-19 cases Kerala On Wednesday, the state saw another spike with 4,801 new infections being reported, taking the caseload to 52,54,290.
The southern state had reported 3,640 cases on Tuesday. An official press release said that the state also recorded 258 deaths, taking the total death toll so far to 48,895.
Of the 258 deaths, 29 were recorded in the last few days and 229 were designated as Covid-19 deaths after receiving an appeal based on the Centre’s new guidelines and the Supreme Court’s directions.
With 1,813 more people recovering from the virus since Tuesday, the total recoveries reached 51,90,913 and active cases reached 22,910, the release said.
71,098 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
in 14 districts, Ernakulam Highest recorded with 1,081 fresh cases Thiruvananthapuram (852) and Kozhikode (467). Of the new cases, 36 were health workers, 76 were from outside the state and 4,458 were infected who came in contact with 231 with no clear source.
At present, 1,04,353 people are under observation in various districts, of which 1,02,007 are in home or institutional quarantine and 2,356 are in hospitals, the release said.
