300 ultra-Orthodox Jews block Bar-Ilan Junction to protest light rail

Ynet reported that about 300 ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) Jews have gathered at Bar-Ilan Junction in Jerusalem, blocking the road in the process, to protest the construction of the light rail, Ynet reported.

Protesters referred to the construction of the train as “the decree of expulsion and destruction against the Haredim of Jerusalem”.

The protest eventually saw the deployment of the Border Police. According to a police statement, a protester sprayed pepper on a Border Police officer and he sustained minor injuries.

The police have arrested four protesters so far.
