Three terrorists were killed and a policeman was injured in two separate encounters between security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. While one encounter took place in Anantnag district, the second encounter took place in Kulgam district – both in South Kashmir.
The first encounter took place when the security forces, acting on a specific input about the presence of terrorists, launched a cordon and search operation at Nowgam Shahabad in Dooru in South Kashmir district. As the security forces were conducting searches, the hiding terrorists opened fire on them. The forces retaliated, which was followed by an encounter. A police personnel was injured in the initial firing and was taken to the hospital.
Meanwhile, another encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Mirhama area of neighboring Kulgam district. Three unidentified terrorists were killed in the encounter.
