3 Houses Collapse as Earthquake Strikes Nepal, Officials ‘Unable to Establish Contact With Other Localities’

Earthquake in Nepal: At least three houses collapsed after a magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck Nepal on Tuesday. The epicenter of the earthquake is the border of Himali village council of Bajura and Tajkot village council of Humla. According to information, rescuers and local authorities on the ground are finding it difficult to get information due to bad weather and lack of communication tools. DSP Surya Thapa said, “Some more houses collapsed in the area after the earthquake. We have received information that 3 more houses have collapsed in the district.” Head of Himali Village Council Govinda Bahadur Malla told ANI over phone, “Due to bad weather conditions and snowfall in the area, we are unable to establish contact with other areas. Telephone is not working.”

Earlier, the National Center of Seismology tweeted, “An earthquake of magnitude: 5.8 occurred on 24-01-2023, 14:28:31 IST, Latitude: 29.41 & Longitude: 81.68, Depth: 10 km, Location: Nepal. ” Nepal has felt tremors of earthquake in the last few months. According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center (NEMRC), Nepal, two earthquakes of magnitude 4.7 and 5.3 hit Nepal’s Baglung district on 28 December. The National Center for Seismology said the quake occurred at 2:28 pm 148 km east of Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand with the epicenter in Nepal. Earthquake tremors were felt in Delhi-NCR at 2.30 pm. It is being told that the tremors of the earthquake were felt for a long time. According to the information, the epicenter of the earthquake was 10 kilometers below the ground in Nepal. The tremors were so strong that people came out of their homes and offices.
