In a strange incident, three friends jumped into a canal here to prove their commitment to each other, police said on Thursday. One of them was rescued by the locals, while two others are still missing.
Palla police station SHO Yogesh Kumar said the trio were intoxicated when they jumped into the canal. Amit Gupta (24), a resident of Saraswati Colony, told the police that he and he were drinking before the incident. They all took off their clothes before jumping into the canal and put their mobile phones aside, he said.
He said that they did this to prove their commitment to each other. Police said a team of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) is on the lookout for Monu (26) and Sanjeev alias Virat (28), residents of Shyam Colony.
