In West Bengal, three devotees died due to heat and humidity at the Dand Mahotsav at the ISKCON temple in Panihati on Sunday. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted- “Distressed to hear about the death of three devotees due to heat and humidity at the Dand Mahotsav at ISKCON temple in Panihati. Senior officials have reached the spot and all possible help is being provided.”

ISKCON’s Dand Mahotsav or Dahi-Chuda Utsav witnessed a huge crowd of devotees at Mahotsavatala Ghat in Panihati of North 24 Parganas district. Due to the Corona epidemic, the heat and humidity increased due to the people gathered in this festival being held after two years. Due to the chaos caused by the heat, three people died, while about fifty people are reported to be ill.

KK died due to heat and humidity
Renowned playback singer Krishnakumar Kunnath (KK) died during a live show in Kolkata, West Bengal recently. KK had suffered a cardiac arrest, after which he was taken to the Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI), where doctors declared him brought dead. KK was 53 years old. It is believed that due to non-working and overcrowding in the auditorium, it became humid, due to which KK’s health deteriorated.
