26,115 fresh COVID-19 cases in India, 13.6% less than yesterday

Coronavirus: India is the country with the second largest coronavirus caseload in the world.

New Delhi:
India recorded 26,115 fresh Covid cases, a decrease of 13.6% from yesterday’s figures. The new infections took the country’s total caseload to over 229 million. In the last 24 hours, 252 deaths took the death toll to 4,45,385.

  1. Maharashtra, which has the highest number of coronavirus cases in India, recorded 2,583 new infections.

  2. On Monday, 15,692 people tested positive for the virus in Kerala, marking the highest single-day rise in the number of cases in the country. The fresh cases took the number of infections to over 45.24 lakh and 92 deaths took the death toll to 23,683.

  3. Neighboring Karnataka, which has imposed strict restrictions on people coming from Kerala, has reported 677 fresh infections and 24 deaths.

  4. Delhi reported 20 Covid cases and zero deaths on Monday, while the positivity rate stood at 0.04 per cent.

  5. Mizoram leads the northeastern states with the highest number of new cases in a day with 1,731 new cases. The state reported two Covid deaths in the last 24 hours.

  6. Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh – the four big states – were among those who reported zero Covid deaths. Uttarakhand and Jharkhand also reported zero Covid deaths.

  7. India’s active cases stand at 3,09,575, the lowest in 184 days.

  8. The government said on Monday that India will resume exporting and donating additional vaccines next month. Overall, India, the world’s largest manufacturer of vaccines, halted vaccine exports in April to focus on vaccinating its population.

  9. The daily positivity rate is 1.85% and the weekly positivity rate is 2.08%.

  10. Over 96.46 lakh vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours.
