Mumbai reported 2,510 new Covid-19 cases today, an increase of 82 per cent as compared to 1,377 cases yesterday. Cabinet minister Aaditya Thackeray had predicted today that Mumbai will gradually see over 2000 cases per day.

Apart from the daily cases, Mumbai has reported one death and 251 recoveries today.

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope today expressed concern over the rise in the number of fresh and active COVID-19 cases in the state and termed it as an “alarming situation”.

On Tuesday, 1,377 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Mumbai, which is 70 per cent more than the day before. Apart from other parts of Maharashtra, the cases of Kovid are also increasing in the city. To contain the spread of COVID-19, the state government has issued several guidelines ahead of the upcoming New Year celebrations.

From December 25, from 9 pm to 6 am, the entry of more than 5 people in public places has been banned. For the December 31 and January 1 events, venues must function with a maximum capacity of 50 percent indoor, 25 percent capacity in outdoor venues.

On December 25, PM Modi announced the third dose or ‘precautionary’ dose of COVID-19, the first being given to people above 60 and frontline workers with co-morbidities.

In Maharashtra, people are required to follow the COVID protocol and related information on December 31 and January 1.
