The person who ran away from Delhi’s 5 star hotel without paying the bill of 23 lakhs has been arrested. According to media reports, the man has been identified as 41-year-old Mehmed Sharif, a resident of Dakshina Kannada in Karnataka. He was arrested by the Delhi Police on 19 January.

This person told himself in the hotel that he is a citizen of UAE and related to the royal family of Abu Dhabi. Also checked in by telling fake business card.

According to the police, the man went to The Leela Palace Hotel on August 1, 2022 and stayed till November 20 using a fake identity. He checked out two days before the given date. He had given a check to the hotel to pay his bill. When applied for the cheque, the check bounced. The room in which the man was staying was also searched and it was found that he had taken some hotel belongings along with him.

Special team was formed to catch the person
The hotel management had registered an FIR against the man on January 14. A case has been registered against the person under sections 419, 420, 380 of IPC. After this, the police formed a special team to nab the man and on January 19, he was arrested and presented in the court.
