21,257 Covid cases reported in India in last 24 hours, active cases lowest in 205 days

Corona Case Update: After registering a spurt in the last few days, there has been a slight decline in the cases of coronavirus in India. Informed the Union Health Ministry that the country has recorded 21,257 fresh infections with 2,40,221 active caseloads in the last 24 hours, which is the lowest in 205 days.

Active cases account for less than 1% of the total cases, currently at 0.71%, the lowest since March 2020. The recovery rate currently stands at 97.96% which is the highest since March 2020.

In the last 24 hours, 24,963 patients have been cured in the country, taking the total number of people who have recovered to 3,32,25,221.

Kerala

Kerala on Thursday reported 12,288 new COVID-19 cases and 141 deaths, taking the tally of infections to 47,63,722 and deaths to 25,952.

An official press release said that the number of people who have recovered from the disease since Wednesday stood at 15,808, taking the total number of recoveries to 46,18,408 and active cases to 1,18,744.

In the last 24 hours, 99,312 samples were tested.

Among the 14 districts, Ernakulam reported the highest number of cases with 1,839, followed by Thrissur (1,698), Thiruvananthapuram (1,435) and Kozhikode (1,033).

The state is showing a decline in daily fresh cases after crossing the 30,000 mark after the Onam festival in August.

Maharashtra

Maharashtra recorded 2,681 new coronavirus positive cases on Thursday, taking the total infections to 65,70,472, while 49 deaths took the toll to 1,39,411, the health department said.

A total of 2,413 patients recovered and were discharged during the day, taking the number of recoveries to 63,94,075, a statement said.

There are currently 33,397 active cases in the state.

Maharashtra’s COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 97.32 per cent, while the death rate stands at 2.12 per cent.

As many as 1,47,320 people were tested during the day, taking the state’s cumulative testing count to 5,97,66,957.

Mumbai city reported 453 cases and five deaths. The city has recorded 7,47,156 cases and 16,141 deaths so far.

The Mumbai division, which includes the city and its satellite townships, recorded 995 cases and seven deaths during the day.

The number of infection cases and deaths recorded so far in this region are 16,83,489 and 35,320 respectively.
