21 lakh rupees cheated from Maharashtra man by promising to secure seat in medical college

A resident of Nagpur was allegedly duped by four men of Rs 21 lakh by offering safe admission to his daughter in a medical college. The police gave this information on Saturday. An official of Ajni police station said that the accused are in Pune and no arrest has been made so far.

They told the police that Rajesh Lanjewar (51) had received a text message three months ago, offering the facility of admission to MBBS. When he approached the accused, they asked him to pay Rs 21 lakh for a seat in a medical college for his daughter in Nashik or Jalgaon.

Later, the accused told her that they could not secure the entry, the complaint said. The police have registered a case of cheating under IPC section 420 and investigation is on, the official said.
