New Delhi: Raveena Tandon wears many hats! Apart from being a National Award winning actress, she is also known to be a philanthropist who is associated with various causes.
She has also been honored by the Ministry of Women and Child for the important roles she has played over the years in empowering women. When she adopted two daughters at age 21 as a single mother, she was labeled a pioneer!
Now, she has been selected by the ministry to participate in the prestigious W20 as a delegate. The W20 is the Women’s Empowerment Engagement Wing at the G20.
The Women 20 (W20) is an official G20 engagement group, established in 2015 during Turkey’s presidency. It aims to ensure that gender considerations are mainstreamed into G20 discussions and translated into policies and commitments in the G20 Leaders’ Declaration that promote gender equality and the economic empowerment of women.
When asked about this, she said, “I am honored to be invited and to represent 675 million Indian women in India as part of this delegation. Women in our country are working in diverse fields to drive the economy. contribute to this and their efforts should be recognized at the international level.” This summit is a great opportunity to empower women and give them more rights for their full social and economic participation. The proposed priority areas to be discussed are in line with my expectations.”
Working passionately with several organizations including UNICEF, CRY, White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood, Spina Bifida Association and Smile Foundation, Raveena has been fighting for the rights of the girl child. She single-handedly housed 30 girls in her house and built an orphanage for them in Vasai after they were thrown out by their landlord.
Meanwhile, on the work front, he will make his web debut in 2021 with `Aranyak`, in which he plays a tough cop. The series also received positive response from the audience and critics.
