Chasing a target of 191 runs, George Munsey started the innings with three fours in the first nine balls. In the third over, Kyle Coetzer hit two fours against Naveen-ul-Haq. But Rahman’s entry in the fourth over changed the course of the match as he picked up three wickets in the fourth over.
Coetzer fell first, clean bowled by a googly. On the next ball Callum McLeod was dismissed lbw by another googly. Richie Berrington escaped with a hat-trick delivery but was also lbw from Rahman’s googly. The match turned in Afghanistan’s favor in five balls.
In the next over, Matthew Cross chased a wide ball against Ul Haq. The outer edge flew to Shahzad’s right, who dived full length for a one-handed catch.
Munse hit Mujeeb for a six but the Afghan bowler shattered his stumps in the very next ball of the last over of the power-play.
Scotland’s batting slide continued as Rashid Khan caught Michael Leask lbw in his first over. In the next over, Mujeeb took his first five-wicket haul in T20Is as Mark Watt was thrown through the gate. Khan took the last three wickets to end Scotland’s plight.
