On the occasion when his cult film Dil Chahta Hai completes 20 years, Farhan Akhtar has announced his next directorial venture with Zee Le Zara. Bollywoodleading ladies Alia Bhatthandjob Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Katrina Kaif. The film is believed to be based on a road trip as indicated by the announcement motion poster. However, Alia Bhatt had expressed her desire to work with Farhan in 2015. While promoting her film Shaandaar, she told a leading daily that she wants to star in the sequel of Dil Chahta Hai. For his co-stars, he had chosen Parineeti Chopra and Shraddha Kapoor.
“Pari (Parineeti), Shraddha and I should work as three friends in the sequel of Dil Chahta Hai. I think it is a great idea. It’ll be a lot of fun. Should I call Farhan about the film and do so.” Hindustan Times He was quoted as saying.
Later, in another interview, the news outlet quoted Farhan as saying, “I came to know that Alia wants to do DCH Part 2 with Shraddha and Parineeti. That (idea) stayed on my mind, and I’m thinking about it very strongly, but this time with three girls (as the protagonist). We’ll see how it goes.” The filmmaker is said to have spoken to the actress about it later.
Jee Le Zara is written by Farhan, his sister Zoya Akhtar and his longtime collaborator Reema Kagti. The release date and other details of the film are still awaited. Farhan and Ritesh Sidhwani’s production house Excel Entertainment also completed 20 years recently. In the past, both siblings Farhan and Zoya have directed the successful road trip films Dil Chahta Hai (2001) and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011). Zee Le Zara is scheduled to release in 2023.
