The petitions have been filed by BJP leaders and lawyers Ashwini Upadhyay and Firoz Bakht Ahmed. Firoz is the great-grandson of the country’s first education minister, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.

Firoz’s petition states that the actual population of India is more than what is stated in the official records. This affects the development of the country. Population explosion is the root cause of 50% of the problems in India. Therefore, the policy of two children should be made mandatory in other matters like government job, casting vote, contesting elections and taking subsidy.

At the same time, by 2027, India can become the most populous country in the world.
