Two helpers of a truck were killed and four injured when another truck rammed into a stationary vehicle in Northeast Delhi’s Welcome area in the early hours of Thursday, police said.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 12.30 pm on Thursday late night on the flyover near Welcome Metro Station.

Complainant Doje, a resident of Loni, Ghaziabad, UP, told that he works as a laborer in a truck. Naurang, a resident of Loni, is also the driver of the truck. Three other helpers were also present in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Joy Tirkey said they were identified as Sunil, Ravi Kishan and Satish Kumar.

Police said the truck was carrying bricks which were to be taken to Karol Bagh.

The two people who died in the accident have been identified as Ravi Kishan and Satish Kumar. Four others – Doje, Mahesh, Naurang and Sunil – were injured, police said, adding Mahesh was the driver of the other truck that came from behind.

A case under Indian Penal Code sections 279 (driving or riding in a public way), 337 (causing danger to life or personal safety of others) and 304A (causing death by negligence) has been registered at the Welcome police station . DCP Tirkey said.

In another incident, a vagrant died after being hit by an unknown vehicle in North Delhi’s Kashmere Gate area on Thursday. Another police officer said that the police received information about the incident at 2.55 am.

At the time of the accident, Awara was sleeping on the footpath near Nigambodh Ghat. Police said a case has been registered under sections 279 (rash driving) and 304A (causing death by negligence).

He said the investigation is on and police are trying to identify the attacker’s vehicle.
