1987 batch IPS officer Sunil Bansal appointed as new DGP of Odisha

Sunil Kumar Bansal, a 1987 batch IPS officer, was on Wednesday appointed as the new DGP of Odisha by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Bansal, who is currently serving as the Special Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), will take over his new role on January 1.

“On the recommendation of the Union Public Service Commission and in the interest of public service, Shri Sunil Kumar Bansal, IPS (RR-1987) presently under Central deputation as Special Director, IB Headquarters, New Delhi has been appointed as the Director General Police (HOPF), Odisha in the top pay scale (Level 17) in the Pay Matrix for a period of two years from the date of joining the post,” said a notification from the Home Department, Government of Odisha.

Abhay, the current DGP of Odisha, was to retire from the post in June 2021, though the government had extended his tenure at the top post till December 31.
