177 Conferred Gold Medals At Msu’s 70th Convocation | Vadodara News – Times of India

Vadodara: MS University on Saturday organized its 70th annual convocation ceremony virtually due to the Covid-19 situation. The function was broadcast live.
A total of 177 gold medals to 104 girls and 73 boys were during the convocation in which the university’s eminent alumni and lieutenant general Asit Mystery was the chief guest.
Around 15,019 students will be conferred degrees this year. While delivering the convocation speech from BBA auditorium, Mistry said that MSU is, in a sense, not only his ‘alma mater’ but also literally a home.
“My whole family has had a lifelong association with the university… For a substantial part of our lives, we resided at Adhyapak Kutir. I learned swimming as a child at the university swimming pool, I have watched garba at Fine Arts College, have been privileged to see Anshuman Gaekwad playing and practicing at the university cricket ground near the DN Hall. There are a host of such fond memories,” he recollected.
He urged the passing graduates to follow the path of three “D” – discipline (self-discipline), diligence and determination.
“If you look around, you will invariably find someone with a much more difficult challenge than yours. Take the example of quarantine. If you find 7 or 14 days quarantine in your home unbearable, have you considered the plight of soldiers deployed for months at isolated posts in Siachen or Eastern Ladakh, at -40 to -50 degree temperature, at 20,000 ft altitude?” he said.
“Irrespective of the magnitude of your challenge, there are two ways to tackle it — one is to be overawed by it, dejected by it and either give up or make a feeble, half-hearted attempt to overcome it. The other alternative is to use every challenge or difficulty as an opportunity to test your mettle, to showcase your skills, to improve your system/process/ organization,” he said.
Giving examples of Rafal Nadal who won the 21st Grand Slam from a position where he had almost lost the finals of the Australian Open and Captain Vikram Batra ,Shershah) who choose to repeatedly attack and re-capture one insurmountable height after another during Operation Vijay in 1999, Mistry stressed that the infinite nature of human spirit knows no boundaries.
