Thiruvananthapuram: The state witnessed 16,671 positive cases out of 1,14,627 samples tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is 14.54%. The state also recorded 120 Covid deaths, taking the number of related deaths to 24,249. At the same time, 14,242 patients have recovered from the disease.
Of the new cases, 15,794 cases have been infected through local spread. The contact source of infection could not be traced for 692.
Ernakulam reported the highest number of 2,500 cases, followed by Thiruvananthapuram (1,961), Thrissur (1,801), Kozhikode (1,590), Kollam (1,303), Malappuram (1,200), Kottayam (1,117), Palakkad (1,081), Alappuzha (949) Huh. , Kannur (890), Pathanamthitta (849), Wayanad (661), Idukki (486), and Kasaragod (283).
The total active cases currently stand at 1,65,154, of which 12.2% are either admitted in hospitals or other treatment centres. As per the weekly infection population ratio, WIPR is more than 10% in 841 wards of 422 local bodies.
