Another Manchester United transfer could be on the cards with the club approaching their rivals, Arsenal for one of their young prospects.

Manchester United are reportedly interested in conducting a deal with Arsenal for their young talent Chido Obi-Martin. The Athletic shared an article claiming that Manchester United is ‘exploring’ an offer to sign the 16-year-old wonderkid, following the expiry of his schoolboy terms at Arsenal.

Earlier this week, reportedly Obi-Martin visited Manchester United’s training facilities in Carrington and the same report suggests that the two Premier League sides are currently in early-stage discussions over the young talent’s transfer. While the discussions are currently still underway, no advancement has taken place on a concrete decision.

Arsenal reportedly wanted the young talent to continue at their club. The London-based side made Chido Obi-Martin an offer they felt was fair. But the young sensation is understood to have decided to move on sparking a ton of interest in England, including the likes of Manchester United.

Chido Obi-Martin’s tender age of just 16 means that he legally will not be able to sign a professional deal with any club across Europe. Obi-Martin’s next deal will be a scholarship before switching to a professional contract once he turns 17. The 2007-born joined the Gunners from Danish side KB in 2022. Since then, Obi-Martin has impressed with some of his stellar performances.

Competing for England and Denmark as a junior international, he notched 10 goals in a 14-3 win for Arsenal’s under-16 over Liverpool last year. He scored seven goals in a fixture against Norwich to help his tally for 2023-24 reach to 28 goals.

Overall, Chido Obi-Martin has recorded 29 goals in just 17 games for the Under-18s. He also played in Denmark’s 2024 UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualification campaign. The 16-year-old scored two goals in the three-game group stage for the Danes.
