Reportedly, Nagappan will hand over the idol to Mohanlal next week.

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s Chennai home is soon going to have a great addition. The actor will soon receive a 12-feet tall ‘Vishwaroopam’ wooden statue at his residence and it will adorn his house. Work on the sculpture was going on for the last three and a half years and as per reports, it has been completed and will be coming to the actor’s house by next week.
Work on the statue began when Mohanlal had visited Kraft village, Vellar, near Kovalam in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram district, more than three years ago. The actor was very impressed with the craft. He had bought a similar Vishwaroopam idol which was 6 feet tall. After that, he decided to make an idol of twice the size for himself and Vellar Nagappan and his team from the village worked on it for three and a half years and finally completed it. The cost of making the sculpture is said to be more than Rs 50 lakh and it is made of gumri wood.
Mohanlal recently visited the village to see the complete product and was so impressed by it that he reportedly hugged Nagappan. Reportedly, Nagappan will hand over the idol to Mohanlal next week.
On one side of the sculpture, an image of Lord Vishnu with 11 faces can be seen, while on the other side, Krishna blows his conch shell ‘Panchjanya’ and is surrounded by ‘Dashavathara’ (10 avatars of Lord Vishnu).
The disputed game of dice and the ‘githopadesam’ (Krishna counsels Arjuna on the battlefield – interpreting the Bhagavad Gita) is shown below the Vishwaroopam. On the other side of the idol, Panchali and Bhishma are depicted resting on a bed of arrows. ‘Kaliamardanam’ (Krishna conquers Kaliya in battle) and Krishna with his gopis are also shown on the sculpture.
