11 more charges against Vadodara hospital Vadodara News – Times of India

Although the hospital management has denied all the allegations.

VADODARA: Days after Dr Sonia Dalal, a leading pulmonologist in the city, accused a leading private hospital of overcharging its patients for Covid-19 treatment, around 11 more patients filed complaints against the hospital with similar complaints. The crime branch has been contacted with.
“In the last few days around 11 persons contacted us and claimed that the said hospital has charged hefty fees for the treatment of COVID. We have taken their applications and are looking into the complaints. We are expecting many more such complaints,” said a crime branch official.
Senior police officials said that Dalal has formed a group, which patients, who feel that they were overcharged for the treatment of Kovid, can approach and give complaints.
Police said, “Though we are examining the applications, it becomes a bit difficult to prove the allegations as the hospital management in its defense said that they had already informed the patients about the fees.”
The crime branch, however, has asked the hospital, against whom Dalal has filed a complaint, to produce all bills and documents besides taking statements from the hospital management. Dalal had approached the police a few days back accusing a hospital of overcharging Covid patients. He alleged that the hospital collected hefty fees in his name but did not pay him the amount.
The hospital management, however, has denied all the allegations and said that a doctor alone cannot manage COVID-19 in any multi-specialty hospital. The management said there was a team of five doctors and 100-150 medical officers managing the Covid-19 patients.
The management claimed that the charges were as per the notification of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) and the classification of rooms as also as per the guidance of the civic body.
