This post made from the Instagram account named @fake__currency_indian surprised the officers from the police to the finance ministry. Along with the post, some videos were also uploaded, in which it was claimed that high quality fake notes were being sent to Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Telangana.
After seeing this post and video, on 11 February 2023, the Deputy Secretary of the Indian Coin and Currency Division sent a complaint to the Delhi Police for action. On the complaint of the Finance Ministry, the Delhi Police started investigation in the matter by registering an FIR at the Special Cell Police Station. The Special Cell of Delhi Police conducted the decoy operation. After a month’s efforts, 22 year old Mularam s/o Govardhan Ram, a resident of Jalore, the master mind of fake notes, was arrested.

Many videos were uploaded on Instagram
Video 1: Told people – orders are being received from all over the country
A person was telling that today he has received three orders for the delivery of fake notes. Everyone’s parcels have been prepared. There is an order of Rs 100 notes for 45 thousand for Surat. There is an order of Rs 30,000 for Delhi and an order of Rs 50,000 for Hisar. Everyone will get the delivery of different 100, 200 and 500 rupee notes by courier by tomorrow night. The person seen in the video was also appealing to the people – all work is live and fair in front of you. If you do it together, you will do well. However, in these videos, the accused cleverly hid his face.
The accused used to take bookings of fake notes from people by posting such videos on Instagram.
Video 2: Will give delivery of 5 lakhs today
In the second video also, hiding his face, this person was telling that Amit is going to come from Bhopal today. He has to deliver a consignment of fake notes of Rs 5 lakh. For this, Amit had already sent us half the amount in advance. Now he has to deliver. You see his deal amount is ready in 500 notes. Now today I will deliver this to him in Jodhpur. If any brother wants fake notes or wants to meet me then call. Today I will stay in Jodhpur only.
Claim of selling high quality fake currency in other videos as well
Apart from these two videos, 4 more videos were uploaded from the Instagram account named @fake__currency_indian. In these too it was being claimed that he sells fake notes online. The notes that were being shown in these videos looked like the real ones, seeing which even the police were shocked. In all these videos, the person was also showing parcels of fake notes ready for delivery. On all these parcels, the names and addresses of the people of Delhi, Surat, Hyderabad, Haryana and Ranchi who took delivery of fake notes were also written. Everything being so open was surprising even the police.
The accused also used to show parcels of fake currency in the video to make people believe. It was told in the video that orders for fake notes have been received from many states of the country.
Investigation officer bought fake notes of 6 thousand by posing as a customer
SI Shubham Singh, Investigation Officer, Delhi Police Special Cell Team, sent a WhatsApp message to the number mentioned in the Instagram post, expressing his desire to purchase the fake notes. Got a reply – How many rupee notes do you want? He told that once 6 thousand rupees is needed, if he likes it, he will make a big deal. The accused told them that for delivery of Rs 6,000 fake notes, they would first have to transfer Rs 3,000 online to his UPI account. The delivery parcel will be dispatched as soon as the payment is confirmed. In such a situation, SI Shubham Singh transferred Rs 3,000 online to his UPI account as per the instructions of the accused. After this, the accused assured to deliver in the next one or two days.
22-year-old Mularam’s son Govardhan Ram is a resident of Gida village of Barmer. To become rich, he adopted the path of cheating. Mularam has earlier duped many people by offering to become an online gigolo.
Police did not know where the money was transferred
The accused had got SI Shubham Singh to transfer Rs 3,000 to his UPI account created on Google Pay app. He first sent a message of Hi on Google Pay to SI Shubham Singh from his mobile number and later got the payment transferred on the same. In this process, instead of showing all 10 digits of the mobile number to the next person, only the last 4 digits are shown. In such a situation, it became difficult for the police team to find out in which number they had transferred the amount.
Police did not give delivery of fake notes
The accused did not get the delivery even after two-four days, despite transferring an amount of Rs 3,000 online for the delivery of fake notes. When SI Shubham contacted the accused again through WhatsApp, at first he made excuses and after that he started avoiding his calls and messages. After this, an attempt was made to trace the location of the accused. The number given in the Instagram post was traced. It was revealed in the investigation that the person was doing movement across the country. Apart from Rajasthan, his movement was coming in Telangana, Delhi and Haryana.
Searched in many hotels and guest houses of Jodhpur, finally caught from Jalore
A team consisting of SI Manish, SI Shubham and HC Jagjit under the supervision of Delhi Police Special Cell ACP Sanjeev Kumar was dispatched to nab the accused. During this, the location of the accused was found in many hotels and guest houses of Jodhpur. The police team searched for him in different hotels and guest houses of Jodhpur for a few days, but every time he would change the location before the police team reached. Finally his location was found at Maitriwada village in Raniwada area of Jalore. On this the police team reached there on March 9 and arrested him. The police team also found several fake notes, two mobile phones and a professional mike used for video making from him.

10th failed accused used to cheat in the name of first gigolo
Delhi Special Cell Police DCP IPS Prashant Gautam said that the arrested accused, 22-year-old Mularam’s son Govardhan Ram, is a resident of Gida village in Barmer. He was a dropout from class X. He got married after leaving school. He did many businesses to earn money, but failed. After this, he adopted the path of cheating to become rich quick. Mularam has earlier duped many people by offering to become an online gigolo.
Every time he used to change his mobile number. Gradually, this work of cheating started weakening, so in the year 2021, he thought of a new way to earn money. This time he started cheating in the name of selling fake currency online.
Used to cheat by showing real notes in the video
People were surprised to see the video that the notes were looking like real, because they were real as soon as they were notes. Mularam used to make videos mixing original and Children’s Bank currency notes. In the video, he would show only real notes in the name of fake, so that people get impressed by the quality of the notes. He used to keep fake notes hidden in a bundle.
Do not send fake notes to any place
After this, he used to get people to transfer payment to his Google Pay UPI account for online delivery. His UPI account was linked to 4 different banks. Many people had also transferred payments to his account to buy fake notes. After the payment is confirmed, he would make a video of the courier parcel of fake notes and send them that your delivery has been dispatched, will be received soon. However, he did not send delivery to even a single person and later used to avoid their messages.
It came to the investigation that Mularam mostly did not talk to anyone and used to do context with people only through WhatsApp messages, but sometimes even if he had to talk, he would make internet calls.
Police recovered 2 mobiles, mic and real and fake notes from the possession of the accused.
These goods were seized from Mularam’s possession
1. Mobile phone of Samsung Galaxy A03S model, which had SIM number 9834460759, this number was used by Mularam for VOIP and WhatsApp calls.
2. An Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max, which had a SIM number of 8151033932. Through this number, Mularam used to make videos on Instagram and get online payment from people by linking UPI.
3. A professional mic that he used to make videos.
4. 4 fake notes of Rs 500 and 731 fake notes of Rs 100.
5. 2 original notes of Rs 500, 17 of Rs 200 and 19 of Rs 100.
Delhi Police issued advisory after the revelation
After the disclosure of this whole matter, the Delhi Police issued an advisory warning the common people that this matter is a lesson for the common people. To avoid fraudsters and fraudsters on social media and other online platforms, it is very important to identify fake and fake. Agencies are continuously taking action against such fraudsters. The general public is advised to exercise caution while interacting with any such person on online platforms.
