Residents of Tethan, a remote village in Doru block of South Kashmir’s Anant Nag district, have got electricity almost 75 years after independence. After about 75 years, power has been supplied in the area under the Pradhan Mantri Vikas Package Yojana of the Centre. The number of people in that village is about 200 people. With the supply of electricity for the first time, the people of the village enjoyed lighting the bulb for the first time.

Till now there was no electricity supply in the area. As a result, when it got dark, the local people used other means to light their homes., Lamps and candles were lit as a source of light in the homes. Residents on Sunday expressed their gratitude to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi government for working to meet the basic needs of the people. Village resident Fazul Uddin Khan said, ‘We saw electricity for the first time today. Our children will now study under electric light.
