More than 600 people are stranded in different areas after heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh. 300 tourists are reported to be stranded in Chandratal alone, 200 in Manimahesh and more than 100 in the higher reaches of Kullu district. Rescue operation is going on to get them out safely.

According to information, fresh snowfall is creating hindrance in evacuating people trapped in Chandratal, as fresh snow has fallen here during the last two days. Due to this, vehicles are not able to reach the people staying in the camps. It is being told that snow has been removed from about 12 kilometers of the road.

To evacuate them safely, the first team was sent from Losar to Chandratal with machinery, while the second team was sent from Kaza under the chairmanship of ADC Rahul Jain. The rescue team is 40 people, including youth from Pangmo and Losar villages, besides youth from other villages in Spiti.

Now another road to Chandratal will be opened from 5 km behind Kunzum Top. The road of more than 30 kilometers is obstructed by snow. Members of Spiti Administration, ITBP, BRO and Police are also involved in the rescue team.

Rescue operation going on in Manimahesh since last evening

At the same time, in Manimahesh also, after heavy rains, the roads were closed due to landslides. Due to this, 200 people are also stranded in Manimahesh. The good thing is that the people trapped in Manimahesh still have enough ration material for two to three days.

100 people stranded in Kullu as well

Similarly, about 100 tourists are stranded in the higher reaches of Kullu district. According to DC Kullu Ashutosh Garg, all the people are safe and are staying in hotels or people’s houses or tents. He told that due to lack of mobile network, it is not possible to talk to such people. Mobile network is expected to be restored by today evening.

Five people stranded in the middle of the river for two days in Sirmaur

At the same time, 5 people are trapped in the crusher for 2 days near Giri river Dorian Wala in Paonta Sahib of Sirmour. Now they have ration left for 2 days. Rescue teams and NDRF are not able to reach them due to high water level in the river.

Everyone safe: DGP

Acting DGP of Himachal Police Satwant Atwal said that all the people trapped in Manimahesh are safe. A police team has been sent last evening to rescue them. Soon everyone will be evacuated safely.

The DGP requested through the tweeter of the hotelier of Kullu district, wherever people are seen, they should be given shelter in their hotel.
