A devotee offered Rs 8 lakh at the famous Shaktipeeth Jwalamukhi temple in Kangra. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced on 19 May that Rs 2000 notes would no longer be in circulation. The very next day i.e. on May 20, an unknown devotee offered 400 notes of 2000 rupees in a donation form kept in the temple premises. When the donation box was opened on May 21 for counting, 4 bundles of Rs 2000 notes were found in it. Each had 100-100 notes.

Some are telling the effect of demonetisation, some are believing
Different types of discussions are happening after a devotee donated 8 lakhs. Some people are telling it the reason for demonetisation done on 8th November 2016, while some are telling it the faith of devotees towards Jwala Mata, because many devotees offer their hearts freely in this temple for a long time.

Some people are also worried about RBI’s announcement to remove 2000 notes from the market, but RBI has given enough time for this. That’s why people are talking about such a huge amount. It is not yet known which person has offered so much money.

521 notes also climbed in Nayana Devi-Chintpurni
Nayana Devi Temple Officer Vipan Thakur said that after the announcement of the closure of 2000 notes on May 19, 357 notes of 2000 rupees have been donated in the temple till May 22 evening. On the other hand, Mata Chintpurni Temple Officer Balwant Patial said that from May 19 to May 22, 164 notes were received as offerings.
