Dhanonda village of Mahendragarh district of Haryana. There is another identity of this village as well. This is the native village of Bollywood actor and director Satish Kaushik. The entire village is shocked by the sudden demise of Satish Kaushik in New Delhi on Thursday morning.

Satish Kaushik was born in a Brahmin family of this village. Satish Kaushik had great attachment to Dhanonda village, which is 150 kilometers away from Delhi. He used to spend summer vacations every year in this village during his childhood. Even after shifting to Mumbai, he used to take a trip here once in a year and a half. When he used to come to the village, he used to roam around the whole village with his childhood friends.

The family of Satish Kaushik’s uncle Govardhan Lal still lives in the village. Here, there has been a movement of people from morning to his cousin Subhash Kaushik’s house.

Father was an accountant in Delhi

In the 1950s, Satish Kaushik’s father Banwarilal worked as a bookkeeper in Delhi. After some time, he took the agency of the famous lock maker Harrison Company and shifted to Delhi along with the family. Satish Kaushik was born on 13 April 1956 in Delhi itself. All his studies took place there.

Satish Kaushik has 6 siblings in the family. His two elder brothers include Brahma Prakash Kaushik and Ashok Kaushik and three sisters Saraswati Devi, Shakuntala Devi and Savita Devi. Both his brothers live in Mumbai only.

Bajra roti-mustard greens favorite food

Satish Kaushik’s cousin Subhash, who lives in Dhanonda village, says with tears in his eyes, ‘He was very attached to me. Maybe because he was older in age, so he always took care of me like a younger brother. He would have called me once in a week to inquire about my well-being. Whenever he came to the village, his favorite food was bajra roti and mustard greens. He liked to go around the village sitting on a camel cart.

Subhash tells that Satish used to have a lot of affection for the people of the village and used to organize social programs in the village every year. Subhash Kaushik’s son Sunil told that even before coming to the village, Tauji used to call me and ask what program was in whose house. He used to leave his work and go to these programmes. His sudden departure has caused great loss to the village.

Satish was an expert in climbing trees in childhood

Rajendra Singh Nambardar and Satish, who live in Dhanonda village, are friends since childhood. Rajendra Singh says, ‘When he used to come to the village during the summer holidays as a child, we used to roam around the whole village throughout the day. As a child, we played a lot of gulli-danda, kabaddi and wrestling. We used to eat peel by going to Baba Dayal’s johad in the village. We have had a lot of fun on the jaal trees in the village. Now his weight has increased a lot, but in his childhood he used to be lean and used to climb trees quickly.

Rajendra Singh told, ‘Whenever Satish used to come to the village, he would ask us to come to Mumbai. Every time we would avoid saying that we will come next time. How did anyone know that he would be gone so soon. His desire to take us around Mumbai remained unfulfilled. While saying this, Rajendra Singh’s throat got choked.

Installed the idol in the village temple

Thakur Atarlal, the neighbor of Satish Kaushik’s uncle in the village, also got emotional remembering the childhood spent with him. Atarlal told that in 2010, Satish Kaushik got the idol installed in the Radhakrishna temple of the village. Got the village’s johad cleaned. With the help of the state government, the stadium was built and the village got a grant.

During the government of former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda in Haryana, Satish Kaushik had given a grant of one crore rupees to the village, due to which a lot of work was done in the village.
