Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge gave a speech in the budget session of Parliament on Wednesday. He asked questions about PM Narendra Modi and BJP’s relationship with Adani, but his muffler came into the limelight. He was wearing a muffler from the French fashion brand Louis Vita. At the same time, PM Modi reached Parliament wearing a special jacket made by recycling plastic bottles.

The BJP has targeted Kharge over these two pictures. The BJP claims that the scarf worn by Kharge costs Rs 56,000. Sharing these pictures on Twitter, BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala wrote, ‘Test Apna Apna, Message Apna Apna. PM Modi is giving a green message of sustainable development and environmental protection with his jacket, while Kharge ji is wearing an expensive Louis Vuitton scarf. But I am not giving any judgement.

Tamil Nadu’s company prepared the jacket
PM Modi arrived in Bengaluru on Monday i.e. 6 February to start India Energy Week. Here the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) gifted this jacket to the PM. This jacket has been prepared by Sri Renga Polymers, a company in Karur, Tamil Nadu.

The company’s managing partner, Senthil Shankar, claimed that he had sent 9 different colored clothes made from PET bottles to Indian Oil. Out of this, sandalwood colored cloth was chosen for the Prime Minister. Then this cloth was sent to Gujarat, where the Prime Minister’s special tailor got this jacket prepared.

Target to recycle 100 million PET bottles every year
This jacket presented to PM Modi is just a sample. The company also plans to manufacture uniforms for Indian Oil employees posted at petrol pumps and for the military. Under this scheme, 100 million PET bottles will be recycled every year. It has been named Unbottled Initiative. Shankar said that on an average 15 bottles are used to make such a jacket. At the same time, a soldier’s uniform will be prepared by recycling an average of 28 bottles.

The price of the jacket in the retail market is Rs 2,000.
The price of a jacket made of recycled bottles is two thousand rupees in the retail market. The special thing is that water is not used to make the jacket. The company’s managing partner said that a lot of water is wasted in dyeing cotton, but dope dyeing is used in garments made from PET bottles. Fiber is first made from the bottles and then yarn is prepared from it. Yarn is then made into fabric and then finally the garment is made.
