In the Shraddha Walkar murder case in Delhi’s Mehrauli, the police has prepared a 3000-page charge sheet against the accused Aftab Poonawalla. There is testimony of more than 100 people in the draft charge sheet. It contains vital electronic and forensic evidence, collected by the police during months of investigation.

The police have also cited Aftab’s confession, his narco test results and forensic test reports in the charge sheet. It is currently being reviewed by legal experts.

Chargesheet can be filed in the end of January
According to Delhi Police, the charge sheet against Aftab can be filed in the last week of January. In this, the police have also mentioned the bones recovered from Chhatarpur forests and their DNA report, which confirmed that these bones belong to Shraddha. Apart from this, Aftab Poonawala’s confession and narco test report are also included. However, according to sources, both these reports do not have much importance in the court. Police said that hair and bone samples found on January 4 from Mehrauli forest in south Delhi also matched with those of Shraddha.

Aftab is in police custody since November
Aftab killed his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar on May 18. After this, he had cut Shraddha’s body into 35 pieces. He had brought a 300 liter fridge to keep these pieces. The police arrested Aftab and recovered Shraddha’s bones from the forests of Mehrauli. Aftab Poonawalla, 28, has been in judicial custody since November last year. Aftab had earlier told a Delhi court that he had killed his accomplice Shraddha Walker “in the heat of the moment”.

Accused Aftab asked for law books to study in jail
In early January, Delhi’s Saket court extended Poonawalla’s judicial custody by another 14 days. During this, in front of the court, Aftab asked for some law books to read in custody. He was presented in the court before Metropolitan Magistrate Aviral Shukla. Where he instructed the jail authorities to provide warm clothes to Aftab.
