Industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s son Anant and businessman Viren Merchant’s daughter Radhika got engaged on Thursday. The rituals of Gol Dhana and Chunri Vidhi were performed at Mukesh Ambani’s house, Antilia. These rituals have been passed down from generation to generation in Gujarati Hindu families. On this occasion, the members of the Ambani family gave a surprise dance performance, which was led by Nita Ambani.

His uncle Anil Ambani and aunt Tina Ambani also reach Anant’s wedding. Both of them appeared in traditional dress only. Along with this, many stars of sports and Bollywood world also participated. These included many veterans including Sachin Tendulkar, Akshay Kumar, Aishwarya Rai, Shreya Ghoshal.

Couple celebrated Mehndi Ceremonies a day before on Wednesday itself. Both were married on December 29 last year at Shrinathji temple in Nathdwara, Rajasthan. Mukesh Ambani’s younger brother Anil Ambani along with wife Tina Ambani attended the engagement event. He also gave photo poses to the media.

Radhika Merchant’s father is a resident of Kutch, Gujarat. Apart from father Viren and mother Shaila, Radhika also has a younger sister in her family. Her name is Anjali Merchant.

After the family photo, Anant and Radhika also posed as a couple on the request of the media. After this both also greeted everyone.

Gol Dhana is a special ritual of Gujarati weddings.
Gol Dhana means jaggery and coriander seeds. It is a pre-wedding ritual in Gujarati families where jaggery and coriander are distributed at the boy’s house. The bride’s family members come to the groom’s house with sweets and gifts. After this, both wear rings to each other and take the blessings of the elders.

To start the engagement ceremony, Anant Ambani’s sister Isha Ambani first went to the Merchant House and invited him and Radhika for the evening’s event. The Ambani family welcomed the Merchant family amid aarti and chanting. After this both the families took Anant and Radhika to the temple where both took the blessings of Lord Krishna. After this everyone reached the Ceremonial Venue, where the functions started with Ganesh Vandana. First the Lagan Patrika or the wedding invitation card is read.

It was here that the rituals of Gol Dhana and Chunri Vidhi were performed. After this, both the families gave gifts to each other. Then the Ambani family, led by Neeta Ambani, gave a tremendous surprise performance, which was appreciated by all. After this, Isha Ambani announced the beginning of the Ring Ceremony. Radhika and Anant exchange rings in front of their families and friends and seek blessings from everyone.

Radhika’s father Viren hails from Kutch in Gujarat. He is the Non-Executive Director of ADF Foods Limited as well as the CEO and Vice Chairman of Encore Healthcare Private Limited. Radhika completed her schooling from Cathedral and John Connon School and Ecole Mondiale World School in Mumbai. Graduated from New York University in Politics and Economics.

Radhika returned to India after graduation. He is currently a Director on the Board of Encore Healthcare. He loves trekking and swimming. There is also a trend Indian classical dancer. Radhika has taken training in classical dancing under the guidance of Guru Bhavan Thakar of Shree Nibha Art Dance Academy, Mumbai.

3. Anant has known Radhika since childhood
Radhika and Anant have known each other since childhood. Ananth completed his studies from Brown University in the USA and has since served as a member of the boards of Jio Platforms and Reliance Retail Ventures. He currently heads the Energy Business of RIL.
