A passenger traveling in Rajdhani Express found a cockroach in his food. This food was served by the Indian Railways. The passenger tweeted a photo of the food and sought answers from the Indian Railways and Railway Minister Piyush Goyal about the incident. After this incident of December 16 came to light, the Railways removed the accused cook from service.
The passenger posted a photo of the omelet and wrote in a tweet that on December 16, he boarded the Rajdhani Express from Delhi. He ordered extra omelette for breakfast for his 2.5 year old daughter. When the omelette arrived, a cockroach was found in it. He asked who would take responsibility if anything happened to my daughter.
Railway took action against the culprits
In response to the passenger’s complaint, the railway service apologized for the incident and asked for his PNR number and mobile number. After investigating the matter, the Railways took action against the people responsible for the incident.
- The cook who made the omelette has been immediately removed from service for his negligent attitude.
- A fine of Rs one lakh has been imposed on the service provider.
- Railways has warned the pantry staff to be more careless in preparing and serving food.
- Apart from this, Central Railway has been asked to get better pest control and fumigation done in the pantry car so that no such incident happens again.
Cockroaches were also found in the sweets of Rajdhani train
While coming to Ranchi in the Rajdhani train on November 25, a dead cockroach was found in the sweets, while on November 26, the passengers got substandard food in the LTT Express coming to Ranchi. After this the passengers were forced to throw away the food. Here, Dev, a passenger traveling in the Rajdhani train, has complained to the Ministry of Railways.
