On Wednesday, Angkita Dutta lodged a complaint against Srinivas’ wife at the police station in Dispur, the capital of Assam.

The Assam Police on Sunday issued a notice to Youth Congress (IYC) National President Srinivas Beevi. Police has asked Srinivas to appear at Dispur police station on May 2 at 11 am. It is also written in the notice that if Srinivas does not do so, he will be arrested under section 41A of CrPC.

Angkita Dutta, who was the Assam Youth Wing President, had accused Srinivas and party secretary Vardhan Yadav of mental harassment and discrimination for the last 6 months. Congress has expelled Angkita from the party for 6 years on Saturday itself. This action has been taken on the charges of anti-party activities. After this action, Angkita Dutta has described herself as the harassed woman president of Assam Youth Congress on her Twitter account.

CM Himanta said – It is wrong to blame me for the deficiency in Congress

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has tweeted the notice sent to Srinivas wife. Himanta has written- ‘Assam Police is working according to the law. He is probing the complaint of a Mahila Congress worker. It is wrong to blame me for the lack of safe environment in Congress for women. Please advise the accused to cooperate with the legal process.

It was said a day ago – If the Congress does not solve the matter then the law will solve it.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had said – We had asked Congress to resolve this matter. But now I have come to know that the Congress party has not resolved the matter, but has expelled Angkita from the party. If the Congress does not settle the matter, the law will. When a daughter’s honor is at stake, it is best to take action no matter what.

Allegations found baseless in Congress investigation

Earlier, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee had probed Angkita’s allegations, but found them to be baseless and politically motivated. After this, the committee has taken disciplinary action against the leaders for tarnishing the image of the party and the leaders. The Assam Congress had on Thursday issued a show cause notice to Angkita and asked her to respond within 24 hours. Later the party was not satisfied with his reply.

The order was to wait till the Karnataka assembly elections
Senior Assam Congress leader Debabrata Saikia told that the party had asked Angkita to wait till the Karnataka assembly elections. He was told that after the elections this issue would be taken up with the high command and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. But, he did not wait and lodged a complaint with the police. She could not even provide proof of her allegations. This was tarnishing the image of the party, so the party had to take action against him.
