Preparations have begun for the final reshuffle of the Modi cabinet ahead of the assembly elections to be held in five states this year and the Lok Sabha elections next year. It is believed that the reshuffle will happen before June 10. At the same time, there will be a change in the organization before June 10 or after June 10. Barring a few exceptions, aged and out-of-cadre ministers will be relieved of their posts.

Actually, by the end of the year 2023, assembly elections are to be held in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram. After the defeat in Karnataka, it is a big challenge for the BJP to win in these states. Just as the Congress had stronger local leaders than the BJP in Karnataka, the situation is more or less the same in these states as well.

Congress has formed the government in Karnataka by winning 135 seats. Whereas, BJP got only 66 seats in the state.

Sources say the high command’s assessment is that by reshuffling the existing Union cabinet and organizational set-up, the BJP can strategically improve the situation in the five states. Since, there is not much time left in the election. In such a situation, there is a preparation for change as soon as possible.

Electoral states quota may increase
Barring a few exceptions in the current cabinet, aging ministers and people from outside the cadre can be replaced by young and original cadre workers. The quota of ministers is also expected to increase in the five electoral states. People from allied parties are also expected to get a place.
