In the first phase of Mahabharata 2023, which started 251 days before the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, 77,407 people from the three states shared their opinion in the Bhaskar Maha-Survey. 59% of voters in these states with a total of 520 assembly seats are dissatisfied with their MLA, 76% said they do not like promises of freebies, while only 3% said they would look at caste-religion while voting.

Here are the results of the 10-question survey…

1) What is the major priority?
Answer: Education-health and employment

Education-health is most important for Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh and employment for MP. 22% people from all the three states said, this time these will be the biggest issues.

2) Have the promises been fulfilled?
Answer: 23% said – Completed

63% people in all the three states said that the promises made in the last election were not fulfilled. However, 23% people also say that the promises made to them have been fulfilled.

3) What kind of candidate will you choose?
Answer: Clear-honest image

In Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, the first choice of 25% people is a candidate with clean and honest image. Only 2% want to vote for a woman candidate.

4) Dissatisfied with MLA?
Answer: 30% said- Satisfied

59% people in all the three states say that they are not satisfied with their MLA. However, 30% also said that they are satisfied. 11% people are partially satisfied.

5) What is the biggest need?
Answer: Education, Treatment, Law & Order

Improvement of education for the people of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh and law and order in Rajasthan is the biggest need. 19% of the people of the three states want education and 18% want better treatment.

6) What was the major issue?
Answer: Voted on employment

In the last assembly elections, employment was the biggest issue in all the three places of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. 31% people gave this opinion. This was followed by inflation and loan waiver.

7) Who is more active?
Answer: Neither lost nor won… Others

39% people said that after the results of the last assembly elections neither the candidate won nor lost, any other candidate was more active. 34% said, the MLA was more active.

8) Whom are you most dissatisfied with?
Answer: 27% from government office

33% people are most dissatisfied with their MLA. 27% have the most problem with the government office. Whereas, the least 7% are dissatisfied with the police stations.

9) Previous Big Factor?
Answer: The emphasis was on the party-candidate

In the 2018 assembly elections, the candidate was the biggest factor for 44% and the party for 41%. The CM face mattered to only 11% of the people.

10) Are the promises of freebies true?
Answer: Only 24% stood in favor

76% people do not consider the promises of freebies made to woo the voters during the elections. However, 24% say that there is no harm in it.
