The violence that started after the alleged rape and murder of a Dalit minor in West Bengal’s Uttar Dinajpur district flared up on Tuesday. Protesters from tribal and Rajbanshi communities set the Kaliaganj police station on fire.
According to reports, the protest started after the minor’s postmortem report did not mention rape. The protesters were enraged by the statement of IPS Sana Akhtar. Taking advantage of the opportunity, some unidentified miscreants entered the police station and set it on fire.
On Friday, April 21, the body of a Dalit minor was found floating in a canal in Kaliaganj. The family alleges that their girl was murdered after the rape.

Four police officers of ASI rank have been suspended for dragging the body of a minor girl. Raiganj’s SP Sana Akhtar gave this information on Tuesday. He said that a departmental inquiry was conducted and action was taken on the basis of the report.
At the same time, the police say that they have arrested a 20-year-old boy in connection with this incident. He said that the girl and the accused knew each other.

The villagers pelted stones at the policemen who came to collect the body of the minor. Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel had to be called in to control the crowd. The police released tear gas shells and also lathicharged. Not only this, the video of the girl’s body being dragged was also revealed.
After the incident, the local people closed shops and started protesting against the police.
