In Bastar, about 300 villagers from villages across the Indravati river of Bijapur district were treated under the open sky. The health department team camped under a tree for two days in Naxalgarh village. There were about 40 villagers who came here for treatment, who were offered glucose with the help of a branch of a tree, because there is neither a hospital nor a health facility in the village.

In fact, the Health Department team had received information that hundreds of villagers from nearby panchayats, including Takilod across the Indravati river, are sick. Because of this, the health department team reached Takilod village two days ago (May 17-18).

Reached Naxalgarh after traveling 20 kilometers on foot

It is said that even reaching the village was not easy. In such a situation, the health department team first crossed the Indravati river in a small wooden boat via Bhairamgarh. Then reached Takilod village after traveling about 20 kilometers on foot.

Villagers from more than 5 villages were involved
Camp was set up here under a tree. The health department team spread tarpaulin there and then opened the hospital by placing all the kits on top of it. About 300 villagers from Takilod, Abujhmad, Pallavaya, Gondmeta, Vedma and some other villages reached this camp. who were treated.

Many of these villagers were suffering from anemia. Many had problems of cold-cough, fever, BP, sugar. Along with this, some villagers were suffering from other serious diseases. The health department team treated all the villagers.

About 40 villagers were given glucose by tying a rope on a branch between two trees. There was no bed, no mattress and no electricity. Rather, the villagers were made to lie down on the ground under the open sky and glucose was offered to them. There were also some 30 villagers who were suffering from some serious illness. The Health Department team took these villagers to Bhairamgarh Hospital and Bijapur District Hospital.

Health Department employees told that they were in Naxalgarh village for about 2 days. The area is extremely sensitive and inaccessible. There is neither network nor road. It is difficult to reach health facilities in these villages situated in the middle of the forest. Health Department employees say that it is not that health workers never reach the area, ANMs and RHOs keep visiting from time to time. But the area is huge. That’s why it is not possible to provide treatment to everyone.

The villagers of the area told that the Indravati river remains in spate even during the rainy days. Also it is not possible to reach the hospital. That’s why exorcisms are done for any type of disease. When there is a lot of trouble, then somehow they reach the hospital. But the situation becomes worse after 4 months of rain. Because the Indravati river is in spate, which is not possible to cross with the help of a boat.

bridge construction work in progress
The work of building a bridge on the Indravati river is also going on. It is being told that the bridge construction work will be almost completed before the next year’s rains. Due to which the villagers of the area will also get relief. However, the bridge at Chhindanar-Pahurnar Ghat in Dantewada has been completed. But the work of bridge construction is going on in Bijapur’s Phundri and another place.
