The main demand of the Pilot camp was the Chief Minister’s post. The matter was constantly postponed. First a meeting of the Legislature Party was called on 25 September. The Gehlot camp had in a way shown a rebellious attitude by holding a parallel meeting. After that incident, the matter of changing the CM in Rajasthan went into cold storage.

The delay was also due to Rahul Gandhi’s visit. When no decision was taken on Rajasthan even after Rahul’s visit, then under the new strategy, the pilot camp has now made a strategy to surround the CM on the basis of issues. Pilot resorted to the same popular narrative, which has been leveling allegations of collusion against Gehlot and Vasundhara for a long time.

Why did Pilot attack the CM after a long silence?
The pilots had calmed down after being aggressive in the middle. On 8th April participated in Youth Congress torch procession in support of Rahul Gandhi. By holding a press conference on Sunday, he announced the fast by arguing that no action would be taken on the issue of corruption. It is believed to be part of a well thought out strategy.

Sachin had placed demands and suggestions before the Congress high command. No action has been taken on these core issues so far. Pilot was also under pressure from his supporters and the anti-Gehlot environment. That’s why it was necessary for him to take one political stand or the other. Is there any collusion between Vasundhara-Gehlot government, where is the pilot pointing?
In the politics of the state, there have been allegations of collusion between Gehlot and Vasundhara Raje for a long time. These allegations have been leveled even in Congress meetings. Other parties have also been making allegations of collusion for a long time. These were seen only as political allegations.

The allegation of collusion has also been a favorite narrative of political opponents of Gehlot and Raje. This is what the pilot has now resorted to. Pilot has also made the same allegation on the pretext of his opponents. The allegations of collusion are political, but the opposition camp also cites old examples.

There were allegations for the first time on leaving legal loopholes in the Mathur commission.
During Raje’s tenure from 2003 to 2008, Congress had made many allegations of scams. In 2009, when Gehlot became the CM for the second time, the Mathur Commission was formed to investigate the scams of the BJP rule. It was a committee.

The Mathur Commission was constituted by an administrative order, not under the Commissioner of Inquiry Act. Its legal status was not like that of a commission. Due to leaving legal loopholes, the Mathur Commission was stayed by the High Court itself.

The commission had to later hand over the files relating to land and other scams to the Lokayukta. If a commission was formed in the Inquiry Act, then the then CM to the ministers would have been summoned for the investigation.

At that time, it was discussed in the political circles that the commission was deliberately kept weak, so that no action could be taken against anyone and the promise made at the time of elections could also be fulfilled.

At that time, Gehlot had said that we deliberately did not form a commission in the Inquiry Act, because before that summons would have been issued to the CM for enquiry. There is talk of action with the spirit of political vendetta.

Congress had agitated regarding the Khan scam
When Vasundhara’s government was formed in 2014, Pilot became the Congress President. For the whole five years, Raje made many allegations against the government. The Congress had agitated over the Khan scam. Went to Rashtrapati Bhavan.

In the 108 ambulance scam during Raje’s reign, even a CBI inquiry was recommended against Gehlot, Pilot and many Congress leaders. However, nothing happened in that case. Cases were filed against leaders close to Gehlot. There was a case in ACB in the case of single lease on Shanti Dhariwal.

In the previous BJP rule, the Khan scam and some other scams were vigorously raised by the Congress when it was in opposition. Gehlot did not form any committee or commission this time to investigate those allegations.

At the time of the rebellion of the Pilot camp, there was talk of some BJP MLAs supporting Gehlot. When there was no action on the Khan scam.

When the leaders of the Gehlot camp gave statements in favor of Raje, an atmosphere of collusion was again created. Pilot has surrounded Gehlot by taking him forward.

After the incident of 25 September 2022, the pilot has resorted to a new strategy.

What is the strategy of the pilot behind this fast?
If a leader raises his voice on the issue of corruption, then a large section of the public gets involved. This is a tested formula in the last year of the government. Pilot’s strategy is now of pressure politics before the elections. The issues raised by the pilot camp in front of the high command have not yet been fully resolved.

In the assembly elections, Pilot now has to get hold of the ticket distribution system as well. Supporters have to get tickets. To remain politically strong, it is necessary to get a good number of tickets. In the election year, Pilot wants to create an atmosphere in the country and state on the issue of corruption. Along with this, they also want to bring the party in a new state of negotiation. So that the demands can be satisfied.

Gehlot has shown the strength and eye of the MLAs on 25 September. Seeing no possibility of change, the pilot has resorted to a new strategy. By raising the issue of lack of action against corruption under the BJP rule, Pilot has tried to garner the support of Gehlot’s detractors and a large section within the party. This section of the Congress has been opposing BJP’s soft stand on corruption earlier also.

Are all the doors of reconciliation between Gehlot-Pilot closed?
Congress sources claim that there has been no conversation between Pilot and Gehlot for a long time. The tension between the two has increased instead of decreasing. Recently, in response to a question, CM Gehlot had said about Pilot in a taunting tone that he is still in the Congress. Gehlot’s pro-ministers and leaders have also been taunting the pilot.

Minister Ramlal Jat had accused the pilot of duplicity. Then pro-Pilot minister Hemaram Chowdhary had said that all these people together want to oust Sachin from the Congress, but this will not happen. The tussle between Pilot and Gehlot has reached a very advanced level.

Now until the high command does not talk to both of them face to face, only then the path of reconciliation can emerge. After the current stand of the pilot, there is no way left except to interfere with the high command.

What is the significance of ignoring the demands of the pilot by the high command?

Congress governments are left in only three states, in such a situation, it does not want to take any risk regarding Rajasthan. The high command’s strategy on Rajasthan has changed even after the September 25 incident.

In September 2022, the MLAs of the Gehlot camp showed their numbers.

On September 25, 2022, a meeting of the Legislature Party was called to pass a one-line resolution to leave the right of decision on the Chief Minister to the High Command. At that time discussions were going on to make Pilot the Chief Minister in place of Gehlot.

The Gehlot camp did not allow the meeting to take place openly opposing the same discussions. For the first time even a single line proposal was not allowed to be passed. The Gehlot camp had shown the strength of the MLAs. This was considered a sign that if coercion was done, the government could fall. That is why the pro-Gehlot MLAs had even given resignation to the speaker.

Political experts believe that the Congress high command is not in a position to leave Rajasthan after that incident. The three leaders who were given notice in the matter of calling a meeting of the Parallel Legislature Party. Action is pending on them till date.

Pilot has put the high command in a dilemma by announcing to sit on hunger strike on the issue of corruption. Pilot has raised the issue of action on BJP’s corruption. If the high command wants, it can call for an answer by making it an issue of discipline, but in politics, decisions are taken after seeing the time.

This is a very critical time for the Congress, there is a line of leaders leaving the Congress, at such a time the high command would not want action to be taken against the leader who was called an asset. However, along with Gehlot, the high command will also have to find a way of damage control on this whole issue.

Will any effort be made by Gehlot or the high command to postpone the fast?
The relationship between Gehlot and Pilot has become very bitter. Gehlot will take initiative or explain to postpone the fast, there seems to be very little possibility on this. The Gehlot camp will try to capitalize on Pilot’s fast in its favor.

How will pilots be able to put pressure on Gehlot with one day’s fast?
