Clashes broke out between BJP and TMC workers in Cooch Behar district during the bandh. BJP workers sat on a dharna in front of the bus depot. Stones were thrown at several government buses. BJP worker accused of death in police firing
BJP worker Mrityunjay Barman was killed in North Dinajpur on Wednesday night. The BJP has alleged that Mrityunjay died in police firing. Uproar started after the death of a minor girl
The ruckus started after the death of a minor girl in Kaliyaganj last week. The mob had set the police station on fire on Tuesday. The protesters claimed that the girl was murdered after being raped. However, this was not confirmed in the postmortem report.

Internet service has been stopped by the administration in Kaliaganj till April 30 by invoking section 144.
